Learning Remotely

My Students

My school is located in Florida. I have a diverse classroom. My students' ages range from 5-7 years. My students love coming to school and participating in a engaging and diverse of activities.

My students are on the autism spectrum and love to have a structured environment on a daily basis.

They use individual visual schedules in daily functioning. We engage in both large group and small group activities as part of our daily routine. They love to read, sing, dance, play and do any activities that preschoolers generally enjoy. They also enjoyed the use of manipulatives, iPads and games as a part of small group rotations. They look forward to these activities on a daily basis. My students have been at home since mid March and would love hands on materials to continue their learning while at home.

My Project

I have an enthusiastic group of students who have surprised me in the last few days. Their eagerness and willingness to learn still continues despite the fact that they are learning remotely. I would like to give them more opportunities to continue their learning. The camera and microphone will help me to record and upload stories particularly those relating to their social and emotional learning.

The books and sentence completion cards will be used for the stories that will be recorded.

With pre-recorded lessons, students can be more engaged. Also, they can still have access to these videos even after the lesson is over. The playdoh and sensory toys will be used for sensory activities in their home to assist them in focusing. My goal is to closely replicate the real classroom so that students will have a feeling of belonging even though they are not in a physical classroom. With these materials students will be still able to make learning gains even though they are at home.
