Help me give my students the ability to learn to recognize letters and sounds using the magnetic letter tiles as well as learn through sensory items that will encourage and motivate them while learning.
Teaching in a K-5 Adaptive Curriculum Classroom brings many challenges to teaching such high needs students. It is also the most rewarding position to be in! I am able to watch my students learn and grow everyday from kindergarten all the way to 5th grade! I am able to build relationships with each child and their families that allows us to connect on a deeper level than academics.
In my classroom I not only serve a diverse set of needs based on the individual- but I also serve a diverse population of cultures and socioeconomic statuses as well.
My students blossom with hands-on manipulatives and activities. They need to be able to explore their world in order to learn more about it and themselves. Many of my students are developing language skills or are non-verbal and develop differently than typically functioning children and they need materials to help them grow and learn.
My Project
My students learn though using their senses and exploring what is around them. The materials I am requesting will not only allow my students to work and learn in they ways they need, but they will be building academic skills at the same time.
My students are working towards goals in reading and math as well as life skills of working with others and communicating with peers and adults.
These materials will allow them to reach their goals in all their areas of learning. They will be learning through play! They will be building words with the tiles and beads. They will use the sensory items to encourage them to work and have rewards when they have completed a task.
