Learning Our Names in Kindergarten

Help me give my students the materials we need in my classroom, like crayons and glue. When I first move into my classroom I had absolutely nothing in my classroom. I had borrow most of the times.

My Project

On the first day of kindergarten we use name tags as part of our introductions of getting to know each other. Name tags are valuable tools to engage students during the first week of school. The name tags will help my students to learn how to write their names in kindergarten. It will help them to know which classroom they belong to. This will help them learn how to read and learn everybody's names in the classroom. It will help them to feel important and learn to recognize other student names and they will feel they are part of a community. With name recognition they will begin to build their concept of print and begin the process of learning how to read. Their name tags help them with their personal identification, their individuality, and feeling like they are in an inviting atmosphere to reduce anonymity. When students begin to recognize their names, it leads them to the understanding of letters and sounds and how they work. When they begin to master the authority of recognizing their names, they begin to catapult into literacy by learning to connect letters to sounds and learn the spelling pattern to read. Once they master their names they can begin to learn other names and the sounds it represents. They will learn how to sort letters and the words.

Learning their name recognition is very crucial in the classroom.

It gives them a meaningful way to learn and begin to recognize more complex spelling patterns. It also gives them exposure to phonics concepts that are meaningful to them. When everyone begins to learn each others names, they begin to form bonds and relationships. They build positive interactions that lead to strong and healthy classroom environment. It helps them to feel they belong to each other.

We are also requesting a few everyday basics like crayons, glue sticks, pencils, a flexible chair option, and disinfecting wipes to help keep our classroom clean.
