Help me give my students a whiteboard on wheels so that I can make learning and anchor charts easily accessible to all students in all parts of our first grade classroom.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The adjustable mobile whiteboard will make it easy for me to make learning accessible to all parts of our classroom. With increasing class sizes, it's important for me to ensure that all table groups are able to view and read teacher-created anchor charts that support understanding and that can be used as a tool for applied student learning during independent work times. Additionally, the mobile whiteboard will be an important tool for English Language Learning students and intervention group students. The mobile whiteboard and anchor chart supplies will make it easy for me to create student-centered intervention supports for each leveled reading group and their specific needs. Students will continuously be able to refer to anchor charts during their daily practice.
The whiteboard will display key reading and writing concepts, while the anchor charts will visually reinforce strategies, vocabulary, and examples by making abstract ideas more concrete and offering language scaffolds.
Over the last school year in first grade, I have noticed how different visual supports have promoted independence and understanding in my students. With the help of these additional tools, I know that student independence, comprehension, and problem-solving skills will grow even more!
