Looking ahead, we hope to continue expanding our math game library so that we eventually have engaging game options covering every major math skill our students need to practice. When students first saw the prize cart and the many options available to them, they were thrilled and immediately started talking about which prizes they wanted to work toward, which sparked an instant boost in engagement and focus during intervention time.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next step is to keep this momentum going year-round so that the positive impact on engagement doesn't fade after the initial excitement wears off. We were able to learn about the human body systems with an engaging, hands-on, and exciting resource. The students were thrilled to explore the systems while using problem-solving skills to construct their mini-models. We learned about the systems of the body and then used the models to enhance our learning by working in pairs to construct the model. It was a very fun and challenging activity! \r\n\r\nAt first, my students were a bit puzzled by the micro-models, but quickly used critical thinking and worked together to successfully build the models. Students get to use their calming space daily when they are in need of a calming space to process strong feelings or make positive choices. Students love using their breathing technique mats and the way they get to sit in their comfy calming corner chair. On their first day of school they were excited to see so many tools that were available for them to use. Since teaching students to use the calming corner, I have noticed an increase in regulation of challenging feelings.
