This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is a Title I school in North Louisiana. The students in our school come from a variety of different backgrounds with more than 90% of the students at our school receiving free or reduced lunch. Like all children, my students' home life greatly affects their learning. Many students at our school arrive daily without the materials they need. Although my students are eager to learn, many are below grade level. We strive to reach each student where they are and bring them to where they need to be academically so that they can succeed at everything they try.
My Project
Our Kindergarten classroom is in need of a classroom rug for our shared reading, whole group learning, independent learning, and independent reading. Our goal is to make our classroom inviting and learning fun! Kindergarten is the start of student’s success. The classroom rug will provide a comfortable and common area for learning to occur, so students can be successful at Kindergarten. Most of our student’s day occurs on the rug, learning the skills needed to be successful in kindergarten and school. Our kindergarten students would love to have a classroom rug to make our classroom more welcoming and learning fun!
