Sixth grade is an exciting year in middle school! As grown up as my students would like to think they are, they still have the wiggles and long to be accepted by others. I have 96 students in my science classes this year. More than half are economically disadvantaged. My desire is to help them love learning and believe that dreams are really goals that they can achieve with hard work and the power of making positive connections with others.
My classroom is not just about learning science, but it is about building trusting relationships and building self-esteem.
My Project
Students learn differently today and want to be on the go! Having a class set of clipboards will give my students the freedom to take learning outdoors, around the community and move about the classroom. Having a class set of whiteboards with makers and erasers will be an additional resource that will support us being on the move. Whiteboards will help save our natural resources by limiting paper use when computing scientific equations and designing projects. Whiteboards will enable me to have students respond independently and quickly when recording answers during informal assessments and will aid in meeting various learning styles. Whiteboards are easily modified and support risk-taking when sharing ideas. Providing students with tangible learning resources elevates students motivation and engagement. Thank you for supporting my students' growth!!
