This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My classroom is at a Title I school, where 79% of the students come from low income households. My students enjoy lots of interactive and hands on activities. Many of my students do not have access to many learning tools at home (books & computers).
My students are full of energy and love to ask questions and explore.
I strive to provide all resources needed to create a warm and welcoming environment sufficient for learning. Many of the students at my school consider school to be their safe place. Our classroom community gives students plenty of opportunities to learn and interact together.
My Project
My students are full of energy and are always moving. Working at their desk all day can get boring for them. With a classroom set of clipboards, we can take learning "on the go" to different parts of the classroom or even the school. This will get my students up and moving which will help them burn off more energy and be better focused on the learning task at hand. Sit spots will give each student their own place to go on our classroom rug.
My students also need extra supplies such as pencils and erasers to take with them when they are learning "on the go".
The large erasers will be easy for my students to carry with them and correct their mistakes. The large size will also be harder to get lost.
