High-need community looking to advance through donations. We are a fifth grade class made up of 33 students, which are all considered to be below the poverty level. We are striving for excellence against all adversity and know that we deserve to have all essentials in the classroom to help us advance.
Currently in the classroom we have an overhead projector. The overhead projector works, but unfortunately it has scratches on the glass from long-time use and makes it hard for students to see the transparencies clearly. This is an issue with such a large class, many times the print is too small for students in the back of the class to see. Also, at times students get used to using the overhead, which lacks appeal, and do not focus on the material as much as they should.
There is a perfect solution to this problem. I have a laptop that I would like to create different PowerPoint lessons on. Lessons that would make it fun for students, lessons in which sound would be included to keep students focused, lessons that would be colorful and eye-grabbing to keep the students attention. The biggest issue for educators is the ability to keep students focused. I believe that allowing students to learn through PowerPoint will be innovative, lively, and bring a whole new dynamic into the classroom. I am highly excited for this request to be fulfilled. My students will benefit from this donation greatly, and I will benefit as an educator seeing my students love and embrace learning.
