Help me give my students vital preschool materials to support my children s literacy and artistic projects during the time they are out of school. Books are vital so that children can continue to read at home.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Currently my students are learning in their homes and have limited resources such as books and art supplies. Several of my parents have already reached out about issues involving materials needed to do special art projects at home. When children can engage in artistic pursuits that accompany academic work they create an experience for that lesson and it fuels rapid learning.
Currently my students are learning in their homes or in the homes of extended family.
Children engage in daily lessons by logging into a site that links them to resources posted by the teacher each day. Children then complete assignments and participate in interactive games and activities with the classroom teacher.
Children are also asked to submit some assignments at home. Activities such as patterning, sorting, or even practicing letter writing are ways that children can complete an extension activity at home.
My Project
Having art supplies like crayons, paper and glue will help students complete assignments related to the posted videos from their classroom teacher.
After watching an interactive video posted by the teacher about rainbows children can use their art supplies at home to draw their own rainbow and cut it out.
This allows children to see the extension of their daily lesson video completed inside their home.
Children may not have materials such as art supplies to create special projects that will further encourage experiences that will fuel learning. Actively using their hands to work helps dissipate nervous energy and helps children focus on specific tasks during this turbulent time.
Books are also needed so that children can continue to engage in active reading times with parents while they are out of school. This will greatly help decrease learning loss that is occurring while children are at home.
