This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My school has 70 English Language Learners population and there is a group of students who are food, clothing, and housing insecure. There are also students who are new to this country and are trying to acclimate to new cultures and languages.
Mindfulness journaling during an after-school club provides students a safe space to express their feelings, while making connections, and also learning more about themselves.
Journaling will be an entry point to getting students to open up and be willing to discuss the struggles they are facing while building community.
