This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Children's knowledge of letter names and sounds is a strong predictor of their success in learning to read. Knowing letter names is strongly related to children's ability to remember the forms of written words and their ability to treat words as sequences of letters.
The most important part of helping students to learn the alphabet is to make it fun.
The alphabet is the building block of literacy and so children must learn to recognize and name the letters, both in and out of order, and the sounds associated with each letter.
Many of the new English language learners arrive to the school with no knowledge of the letter names and sounds in English. These resources can support their them in learning letter names and sounds as well as associating items that begin with each letter name and sound to support their early literacy skills as they learn English.
