My Project
My kindergarten students have been impacted by COVID-19 by not being able to attend in person preschool or extra curricular activities due to social distancing. They are coming into Kindergarten below grade level and are learning alphabet recognition, sounds and number sense. These activities will help them to strengthen their skills. Alphabet puzzles are good for self correction when working with a small group. CVC puzzles, literacy learning tools, counting and addition games will be very beneficial for my students. Play-Doh will be used to help them form letters and numbers for academic learning.
Phonemic awareness and number recognition are two very important skills for kindergarteners to have by the end of the year.
These activities will help my students to be ready for 1st grade. They can use these activities all year long with some differentiation.
