My Students

My students are a diverse group of young learners aged 5-10 from a rural county in North Carolina. They are a crucial piece of the puzzle in building a positive community of learners at our brand-new school opening up in August.

The students who I have already met are especially eager to explore and learn through play.

They are curious learners who will make great music students with their love for learning and their natural excitement. Thank you for choosing our school!

My Project

In this small project, I'm aiming to provide students with two games and a drum to help them learn about musical instruments and styles from around the globe.

The materials in this project will expose my students to music of other cultures and to various Western musical genres, as well.

The games serve a dual purpose as a tool for expanding students' musical genre horizons, and also as a built-in sub activity when I'm not at school. We are an independent public charter school so it is very unlikely we'll be able to get substitute teachers who teach music, and this will make any sub's job much easier.
