My Students
The majority of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds, and 85% qualify for free/reduced price school lunch. My diverse Kindergartners represent a plethora of cultures and linguistic backgrounds, and all of them have something special to share with us!
Our diverse Kindergarten classroom is filled with energetic and eager learners ready to learn!
My students are Arabic, Black, Caucasian, Egyptian, Filipino, Vietnamese, Chinese/Vietnamese, Italian/Chinese, and Polish/Chinese. We are learning to be safe, responsible, and respectful in our classroom and school!
My Project
My five- and six-year-old students have constant random thoughts and worries throughout the school day. With weekly practice and learning together about mindfulness, my hope is they will learn to focus and learn better throughout their lives.
Learning and practicing mindfulness will give my students the gift of focus, awareness, self-calming techniques and reduce their stress level.
We have only just started with simply closing our eyes and breathing in and out five times. We have added imagining scenarios to our calming time. I know the mindfulness books and activities I am requesting will provide a more enriching and positive experience for all my students.
