Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Flexible seating allows students to feel independent, by choosing where they will be seating, to be able to learn for the day. Some students get tired of being in their seats all day, or feel bored of the routines. Allowing them choices has been helpful to re-engage them in our lessons. The choices that they currently have are writing with a pencil or writing with a crayon. Making students comfortable is important to be able to motivate them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices.
The balance balls will give them a fun and sensory seat, while still allowing them to complete their work. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. The floor desks/seats will allow students that like working from the rug to have a stable writing surface that isn’t on their lap. The cube chairs are great for those students that cannot sit with their feet on the floor and sometimes fall out of their chairs. The butterfly seats are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom.
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students' work and am excited to see how being able to choose their seats will positively affect their learning!
