Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Imagine your child going home crying to you that math is hard. Because of COVID, students have a huge learning gap that educators across the country are trying to close.
Playing is beneficial for everyone, especially for children.
Students need to learn new coping skills and problem-solving skills. They also need to learn acceptance of self and others. The exciting part of this project is that students will be able to use the dollhouse, to learn life skills, as well as academic content that has always confused them such as perimeter, area, volume, unit conversion, and more!
Through playing, my students will learn to communicate with others in a variety of ways. For example, they will be using this dollhouse to decide how big of the carpet they need to install in each room (the area), how many cans of paint they need to buy to change the color of the wall (volume, and unit conversion) and what kinds of things they can "afford" to use to create their home which will help with valuable economic skills.
The ultimate goal is to change behavior positively, promote cognitive development, and reinforce math concepts at the same time. For this basic learning concept to be applied, the students will need a dollhouse as well as furniture, decorations, supplies, etc, to plan and execute building and maintaining the project.
It is important to have a variety of choices in the room for learning math, especially for students who want to give up on math at such an early age in their lives.
A dollhouse can be used during individual and/or group sessions in our math, project-based learning, and social-emotional learning section at school. Thank you in advance for making learning fun for our future generation.
