This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I love teaching pre-kinder because at this age, they really enjoy school and learning about everything in their environment. I enjoy watching how these children engage in their learning. They are constantly asking questions and being creative. I enjoy seeing how they are maturing and developing cognitively applying everyday what they've learned. Our group of kids love to play outside, draw, and learn new games. The students learn through hands on learning with manipulative along with using their imagination to create their thoughts. They will greatly benefit from manipulatives where they can create.

My Project

My pre-kinder students love school and learning because I always try to incorporate various fun and exciting lessons. One thing I learned is that at this age, young children love playing and learning with manipulatives. They understand concepts better when they are given the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities. My goal is to make learning fun and exciting and get them ready for kindergarten. These math manipulatives will develop patterning, sorting, counting and simple operation skills in a fun way. My students will enjoy counting and making patterns with the farm animals, insects, ocean animals, dinosaurs and wild animals. I like that the themes are very interesting and age appropriate. Not only can these manipulatives be used to develop math skills but to also promote language and social skills. I can't wait for my students to use these counters to promote learning in various academic areas.
