My Students
I am a 3rd year teacher that is moving to teach Kindergarten next year! Teaching is my passion & working with the littlest learners is what I have always felt called to do. My classroom has always been full of energy & innovation. I go to work daily with the hope I can give each and every one of my students a loving, safe environment to learn!
I teach Kindergarten at a Title I school in Texas, where we are still recovering for the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey.
Most of the students in my district lived through a rough time in their short lives due to the Hurricane in 2017. However, these students are resilient & eager to learn. Many of these children lost everything in the storm, are still displaced, & unfortunately lacking basic necessities, but they show up every morning trying their best to smile. My students are survivors & they deserve the best!
My Project
Kindergarten aged children learn in so many different ways, but one of the most effective ways is through a " hands on" approach. The best way to incorporate this into a classroom is by using a large selection of different tools for the students to get their hands on. Unfortunately, schools do not always provide these materials for us teachers.
Little hands need to touch & play with a variety of letters and numbers on a daily basis to build their foundation for reading in the future!
Using Play-Doh helps build fine motor skills in young children that leads to properly gripping pencils & writing correctly.
These manipulatives and Play-Doh will be used in my classroom for centers, learning games, & small groups. I would love to be able to give my Kindergarten babies a multitude of resources to help build their letter & number recognition skills.
