Imagine the intellectual growth possibilities for children if their teacher had a chance to sit with her students and dissect literature together.
Most of my students are not poor, thus they do not qualify for extra federal funding nor are they rich, so they do not benefit from having rich donors donate to our school.
My diverse group of students range from being newly arrived immigrants, having special needs, and the highly gifted. I have the challenge to make sure that all of my students grow regardless of their skill level.
My Project
These resources could give us the chance we need to analyze chapter books and not only learn the elements of literature, but also learn lessons of friendship, death, the harmony of nature, and so much more. The colorful United States Carpet would give us a place to sit together and enjoy reading together.
Schools with children with high poverty are not the only ones that need help.
It is the type of student that I teach who can fall through the cracks. With your help, 26 children will enjoy literature circles and bond with increased ability and social/environmental awareness.
