My Project
I teach a special education post high life skills class and my wonderful students all have various special needs. They are incredible young adults with intellectual disabilities who have challenges with communication, behavior, and social skills.
My students love learning and giving them different learning opportunities where they feel successful is so important.
I would like to have a vacuum and mini fridge for my classroom. Students are working on learning life skills like cleaning. Students can use the fridge for their home lunches and they can practice cleaning the fridge out at the end of the week. The vacuum would be used daily for class cleaning jobs.
This is my second year in this setting. I am still working to gather appropriate hands on learning materials that students can use independently to demonstrate their skills.
My students love using iPads. We are always looking for new ways to use them in the classroom. Teaching them how to access technology is so important with the increase of digital learning opportunities. We are lucky enough to have iPads to use in the classroom. Right now, we do not have enough protective cases to use with the iPads. Investing in quality cases will allow my students to use technology for learning and leisure and also keep the iPads safe.
My students use the iPads to do digital learning including task cards on Boom Learning. There are many age appropriate digital and printable tasks cards available on Teachers Pay Teachers. The gift card will allow me to make more of those available for my students.
