This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students have shown amazing resiliency and growth this year. Over half of the students are reading below grade level, but they don’t give up and have a wonderful attitude. We spend a great deal of time sharing books and discussing how we can learn to be better citizens through the lessons in these books.
Sharing these class sets of literature will allow my students to experience the joys and failures of the characters and relate the lessons to their own lives.
I have requested these specific books because the characters and topics are relatable to many students and the stories are engaging. I am hopeful that these novels will also ignite a deeper love of reading, so the growth will continue.
