My students need alphabet stamps, magnets, dice, and bubbles to provide a variety of experiences while learning letters. Learning locks, letter blocks, and tactile letters will help my students as they master letter names and sounds.
In my classroom, I serve students from Kindergarten to fifth grade who have been qualified to receive special education services. My students overcome obstacles everyday at home and at school. Although the students in my classroom have been identified as having learning disabilities, emotional disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and health impairments that impede their learning, they always try their best and get so excited when they are successful with school activities!
My students learn best when information is presented through multiple mediums.
When my students can see and touch or hear and move, they are able to retain key components of curriculum. For example, when my students can see a sight word and then "feel" that sight word made out of velvet material, they are able to retrieve that word from memory with more ease than if they would only see the word. Music, movement, construction, and art help my students remember important information that aids in their success with the general curriculum.
My Project
If a student can learn to read, a student can learn anything! My students require multiple lessons and frequent opportunities to master letter recognition and letter sounds. Sometimes it takes months for my students to master topics that would take a typical student only days to learn.
By using various resources, my students will be engaged and excited to repeat learning experiences that will help them master the alphabet.
Alphabet bubbles, letter building blocks, and tactile letters will allow my students to make meaningful connections with what they are learning in a fun and stress free setting. My students will be able to learn letter sounds, practice blending sounds together, and even sound out their first words using magnets, stamps, and dice.
By presenting learning moments in interesting and enjoyable ways, my students will achieve their academic goals. These foundational skills will allow my students to be successful throughout their entire school career!
