This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
First grade is an amazing year for students. They are taking the letters and sounds they know to form words and they begin their journey with reading. This smart sand tray would be used during small group time. Some students will need to practice knowing their letters and the sounds they make, while other students are using those sounds to create and write words. The smart sand is a multi-sensory approach that helps students to learn. There has been a lot of research on multi-sensory learning and how it supports students in their learning. These smart sand trays would be a great addition to my classroom next year.
