My students need Frog Life Cycle Stages Sets and Butterflies in the Classroom Kits to get hands-on and close-up experience with two animal life cycles.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is located in the beautiful city of Victoria, Texas. We have a diverse population who mainly come from the neighborhood our school is located in.
These students come from diverse families and include English language learners and students with special needs.
As a Title I school, we generally serve most students a free breakfast. Our school district was hit by Hurricane Harvey and is still recovering. We have many families who are staying with other families or in accommodated housing. The majority of our students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds and have little access to extra curricular activities or outside learning opportunities.
We would love for every student to come to school ready to learn and to fall in love with learning, but sometimes we have to help them fall in love with learning like teachers fall in love with teaching.
My Project
We would be so fortunate to be able to experience life cycles right outside our classroom door. Unfortunately, nature is not so accommodating! With these Butterflies in the Classroom Kits and Frog Life Cycle Stages Sets handy, our students will be able to get an up close view and, even more importantly, a personal experience watching the transformation from caterpillar to butterfly and having a more detailed look at the metamorphosis of the frog.
Getting out of the classroom for field trips or outside learning can be some of the most financially burdensome costs on a class or district.
By bringing nature and science into the classroom using these kits, our students will have the opportunity to experience some of nature's greatest wonders without having to put any financial burden on the class or family.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
