This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work at a school where 85% of students receive free or reduced price lunch. My students are aged 3-5 years old, and all have Individualized Education Plans. My students are curious, full of energy and life, and always eager to learn! They love learning new skills and are proud of their own successes and those of their peers. My ultimate goal is to give my students a positive learning experience in a school setting, setting the foundation for a love of learning, and a love of school.

Students learn best through hands-on experiences and through the process rather than always having to produce a product.

We are a classroom family learning patience, empathy, and acceptance for everyone.

My Project

My students all have Individualized Education Plans with specific goals to increase expressive language, engage in positive social interactions and as they are all 3 years to 5 years old they are all learning pre-academic skills such as letter identification, letter sounds, shapes, colors, counting and numeral identification. Having materials such as the Magnetic Descriptive Words Rods, Magnetic Language Rods (Complete Set), and Early Language Activity Boxes will encourage students to identify objects, repeat adult modeled language and have real objects or a moving part to manipulate learn with.

Children and many adults learn and retain more information when they are engaged in hands on learning activities.

Students will be engaged in positive peer interactions while sharing materials and playing together. Students will also engage in problem solving skills, classifying, sorting by sizes, learn about positional words, and building their vocabulary all while having fun.

These learning materials will allow all of my students ages 3-5 years opportunities to use their developing receptive and expressive language at their own pace and level.
