Learning Is Fun!

My students need more books for our classroom library, as well as book we can read together as a class. They also need educational activities and sensory items to help them learn while having fun.

My Students

I can't imagine my life without my witty and resilient students! Many of my students struggle with mental health issues, and often create a very negative environment around them. Many of these kids feel alone and ostracized because they struggle regulating their emotions and actions; however, like I pointed out in my first sentence, they are resilient! My students want so badly to learn and crave positive interactions. They are funny, and have many moments of kindness.

Many of my students love to read and be read to, even though many of them struggle with grade level material.

They also enjoy technology and games (board and tech), so I try and set up educational activities, for them to participate in on a weekly basis. In addition, some of my students also have sensory needs, which we try and help and/or reduce, to create a healthy learning environment for them.

My Project

I am a fairly new teacher, so I have a very limited library and educational games in my classroom. This will help keep my students interested and learning, while having fun. I plan to use some of the books to do novel readings in class, and writing activities. It's important to me, that even if I have a student who is academically below grade level, they still have an opportunity to be exposed to grade level text.

Also, many of my students have sensory needs and breaks, from school curriculum, so I like to incorporate fun and educational games and activities.

The games and sensory seating will help them get the breaks they need, so they can focus, during academic instructions.
