My Students

Every morning we start with the morning announcements that get us ready for the day. We do math in a variety of ways. A lot of the kids are still finding their love for math. I am trying to show them that math can be fun but it is also necessary for every day life.

Our class has 19 fourth-graders.

They are a great group of kids. Their personalities vary greatly. Some of the students dive into everything head first and then there are the kids that it takes a lot of building trust to get them to take a chance. I am proud to say that throughout this school year, the kids have become a family and encourage each other to do things. They also assure each other that it is okay to take a chance and no one will laugh if it doesn't work out.

My Project

The math resources: fraction/decimal games, math folder game libraries, real world math problem solving skills, and factor triangle that I am requesting, will help build the student's math knowledge as well as their confidence. We will be able to use these items in our math centers. The centers will be set up so that the kids will work with a partner or in a small group. The students will work together to solve the problems. It amazes the kids how they can get the same answer and solve the problems differently. They learn a lot from each other. The nonfiction books will help with reading comprehension and critical thinking skills. These materials will help our students grow as learners.

This project will help the students by making them more confident in their math skills and by teaching them to work in a group.

They will learn that it is important to listen to all ideas or other people's way of thinking and to work together to solve a problem. Math and problem solving skills are very important for every day life!
