My current classroom is outside the main building in a free standing trailer. I love the location and I have worked really hard to make the inside to be cozy and like a home for our learning; except the floors. The floors are older tile and make the environment feel more cold and stringent.
Carpet will be the most practical way to transform the floor.
I would like to cover as much of the floor; especially under student tables as possible without using several smaller rugs as these are tripping hazards. I chose a big area rug that is a calming pattern plus large enough to allow student tables and chairs fit in a way that they will not constantly be pulling up the carpet edge with chairs.
Not only will the carpet make our room more like a home but it will also assist in reducing noise as the tile floors reverberate the smallest noise but will also assist in keeping students from accidentally moving tables and chairs.
