My Students

My elementary students grow and learn at a Pre K-5 rural elementary school. Being in a rural community with varying access to resources, I would like to bring opportunities that they may not be exposed to otherwise. They are eager and excited to expand their experiences and minds. We are partners in our journey through the years they spend with us.

Being a part of their journey, I have learned from my many years of teaching that students need to be connected to what they are learning.

My Project

When looking back in my many years of teaching, I have learned the immense power of play. Keeping this in mind, I would like to provide a variety of board games like Smart Farmer, Jump In, and Ghost Hunters to my students. These games will allow them to grow and hone their problem solving and critical thinking skills. This will also a provide balance with screen time that they encounter in my computer lab.

"Play gives children a chance to practice what they are learning," a quote by Mr. Rogers and I believe play is an essential for deep learning.
