Learning Is Best When It's Hands-On and Fun

My students need visuals that will engage their attention, and hands on material that they can see/feel/move and have fun with. Do you appreciate music because you read the lyrics or because you experience it? We need science tubs science file folder games and more.

FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Zubia's classroom raised $1,101

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a title one school where all of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. My mix of students is unique because I have ELL from various backgrounds, bilingual and general education scholars.

Very few of students are allowed to play outside once they get home, so I have to fulfill their need to socialize and play, through structured education lesson, games and activities.

No easy feat!!

The students are eager to learn and are constantly asking in depth questions about the material we are covering. I would love to be able to have hands on activities and visuals that they can manipulate and allow them to firmly grasp their content.

My Project

My school is a title one school, where all of our students receive a free lunch and uniform assistance, we have bright students who are eager to learn, and try their best to succeed...but when they really try hardest is when they want to win.

My students neighborhood is not safe enough to play outside, so when they are school I satisfy their need to play and socialize through education.

Children are competitive and games and activities that challenge each other, as an individual or a team are the best way to get my students fully engaged and trying their hardest to acquire and implement their new skills. So how does donation help? With your donation I will be able to receive activities and games that I can use to demonstrate what we are learning, after which I can continue to use your donated items as small group, as well as a station or learning center and as a fun competitive game based on their newly acquired knowledge and skills. My class will evolve from talking about science and reading how things work to actually being able to SEE the process in action and most importantly to EXPERIENCE how things function allowing for a deeper understanding. I can better recall what I did and tell you step by step how I did it and what the results were as opposed to what an entire paragraph said and what it meant..
