Help me give my students a storage bench, spice rack, potting bench and other materials for a cool outdoor space to explore hands-on science while utilizing our school's butterfly garden!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school was just awarded a grant for our Butterfly Garden! My classroom is adjacent to the garden, and I plan on utilizing the benches and other items in this project to create an engaging outdoor space. Students will be able to ask questions, imagine, plan, create, and experiment with science standards related to plant and animal relationships. A true hands-on engineering experience!
This outdoor space is located under one of many large, beautiful jacaranda trees.
This area is so beautiful; it just needs a little TLC and organizing. We will use the garden workbench to propagate plants to best meet the needs of the butterflies that are native to our climate. We provide leadership opportunities in this space for students to share their voice and experiences to help others.
