This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher in an urban low-income school, my students face many challenges outside of the classroom. Despite these challenges, they are hard working, determined, and inquiring group of students. I am requesting funding to give the opportunity for my students to create a lifelong memory all while learning in the field.
As a an urban science teacher I often see my students struggling to make real world connections to the content due to lack of opportunities they have outside of school.
Unfortunately, families in our school do not have the resources to supply these learning opportunities for my students. This lack of opportunity makes it difficult to create those real world connections. By supplementing my curriculum with as much hands-on materials as possible I am giving my students those real life connections that they need to be successful in their academics and future experiences.
My Project
The 5th grade students in our school will soon move on to middle school. To help celebrate their accomplishment and hard work we will take them on a trip to the mountains to hike, learn in the field, and see things they have never seen before! By funding our bus and field trip fee, you will help my students have their first real hiking experience!
Having in the field and seeing nature firsthand versus reading about it is so important for all humankind to experience.
All children deserve experiences that will help them grow into well rounded adults and by donating to our project you will make this become a reality. Hiking in the mountains is not something many of my students would experience elsewhere, if not for this trip. Consider donating to our trip to help create lasting memories and experiences for my students.
