Our school is a K-8 school in a middle-class social/economical neighborhood in Phoenix, Arizona. I am the resource classroom teacher where I teach students with different disabilities.
I have a wide range of students who have disabilities including Autism, Moderate and Severe intellectual disabilities, and Multiple Disabilities.
Eighty percent of my students have speech impairment therefore, they have difficulties communicating with others. I love working with my students to help them grow. My students have different learning needs and through the use of technology, they will have a unique and wonderful learning experience!
My Project
Due to the moderate and severe disabilities of students in my classroom, my students require different modality of learning through the use of both hi-tech and low-tech technology. Throughout the use of apps on the iPad, students are able to learn through repeated learning and practices to gain basic reading, math, and writing skills.
Story app by "Tab Tale" will help my students to listen and read stories like "Wizard of Oz" and "Jack and the Beanstalk".
The app offers manipulation of items on the picture, puzzles, math, and coloring pages that go with each of the stories. Math apps such as "Counting numbers Learning Games" and "Animal Math" help my students to learn numbers, shapes, and easy addition/subtraction skills.
