This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Color matters. Research shows us that. The deliberate use of color can be used to direct attention, group ideas, and engage children. Complicated grammar is made easier with color-coding. These are facts. Most students never get color materials, though. It's just too expensive.

All children benefit from the deliberate instructional use of color; my students require it.

Some of my students have severe disabilities and point at pictures to talk. Recognizing the pictures they use to communicate can be tough. It's a lot harder in black-and-white. Imagine a disabled child trying to find an apple in a line-up of gray fruit. It's slow and challenging – and needlessly so. My heart aches when they can't find the picture of what they want to say.

We desperately need a dedicated color printer for our children with speech and language disabilities. We need your help. We need a color laser printer for communication pages, language lessons, student presentations, and vocabulary projects.

We hope you'll consider collaborating with us to get the equipment we need. Someday we hope all schools will be adequately funded. Until then, we rely on the kindness of public citizens like you. We've been so lucky to have the support of kind and generous people. Thank you for your consideration!
