“Visual-spatial thinkers need to see to think.” - Bette Fetter
Our students are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD); they attend a public school for students with disabilities in Brooklyn, NY.
We are a diverse group, with students coming from all corners of the borough. Our students work hard to become independent learners. They are constantly pushing their own academic and social limits and deserve the best of resources to help them reach their potential.
As special educators, it is our responsibility to teach our students to take ownership of their learning and become lifelong, independent learners.
Visual supports in the Autism classroom are important cognitive tools that enable learning and the production of language. Being able to print and present these visual supports as needed is a powerful tool. To allow my students to create and print their own visual supports is even more empowering.
Printing in color will support creativity and innovation in our middle school classroom.
Color is engaging for all learners; it provides a bridge between the digital and print worlds. Within our multidisciplinary learning centers, we use hands-on activities and many teacher-made materials. A color printer will allow us to create engaging materials all year round.
With a recent shift into multidisciplinary learning centers, the need for colorful, hands-on resources are at an all time high. We need a color printer that can keep up with our high-speed learning!
