My Students
I work with students from all different backgrounds. The students in my caseload are a beautifully diverse combination of different cultures, socioeconomic statuses, and experiences.
Each of my students has an inspiring eagerness to learn, and an endlessly curious desire to experience new opportunities for learning.
Any chance my students get to try a new strategy or engage in a new project is one they seize with excitement! I hope to always find new, engaging, and opportunistic ways to increase student achievement and boost confidence in their own abilities.
My Project
Students often need to visit the academic coaching center. They come to our office for various reasons -- educational support, emotional coaching, and general cheerleading to help them get through the day-- often they spend much of their day in our workspace, and it is anything but comforting.
We are in need of comfortable seating (couch), soft lighting (lamps), better workspaces (large collaborative desk), and privacy curtains to give students in our center the privacy, and efficient spaces they deserve to work their best, and feel their best every single day.
The couch will be used every day, all day long by students coming in and out of our center. Students come in to relax, work on homework, or get tutoring support. Often we do not have enough comfortable, safe seating to accommodate the number of students who want to work with us. The large collaborative workspace desk will serve as a station for several students to work at once, which will help us work with more students at a time. The lamps will provide the level of lighting that is most conducive to student learning, and allow us to eliminate the harsh, fluorescent lighting that we currently use in our center. Additionally, blackout curtains will allow us to keep the attendance in the coaching center private, so students have the confidence that the time they spend with us is worth their while, without infringing on their privacy.
Providing the best experience to students in my care is always my utmost priority and making best use of their time is of vital importance.
