Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students thrive when they can engage with science in a hands-on, student-centered way. My students are most engaged and motivated when my lessons involve delving into new science topics through hands-on learning and labs. Providing dissection materials, lab gloves, and project supplies like hot glue guns and modeling clay makes that possible.

Hands-on labs give students real-life experience doing the work of scientists, helping them develop critical skills like problem-solving, analysis, and collaboration that are essential for success in STEM careers.

Dissecting sheep hearts allows students to explore the anatomy of the human heart in a tangible way, helping them better understand how this vital organ functions. Lab gloves ensure safety during science experiments. Modeling clay allows students to design 3D models that bring complex biological processes to life such as creating plant and animal cells. Dry erase markers are essential for students´ personal whiteboards because they enable interactive learning, allowing students to easily brainstorm and visualize concepts. Many of our students are immigrants and 20% are English language learners, which makes these interactive activities even more critical, as they help bridge language barriers and allow all students to learn by doing. By supporting our classroom, you’re empowering every student to succeed, regardless of background or language.
