This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a Title I school where many students come from low-income homes and face challenges that no child should experience. My students enter my classroom with a bright smile ready to take on the day because I make it known that they are special and can accomplish anything when they work hard! I teach my students to be thinkers, questioners, and talker.
Our classroom motto is, "If you can dream it, you can achieve it!" I strive to create a classroom environment where no idea is to big.
Every student feels as though they are valuable and their voices are heard. Despite all of the hardships that my students face at home, they love coming to school to learn and create because they know that our classroom is a safe place for them to grow.
My Project
Growing our classroom library has been a goal this year. We would like these books and flexible seating options as a way to expand it even more! Having a comfortable environment to learn and read in makes learning fun for all students. With this project my students will have more free choice with books and seating.
Students want to read books that they can relate to and it is important to me that our library stays relevant and cozy.
My students love reading because I share the importance of finding books that are a good fit and create time within our day for free choice of seating while reading. With your help I can continue to instill the love of reading within my students
