Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our library space our students have come to find it be a safe space, one that’s reflective of their own identity. In this space our students inform the changes that have and will be made. Through this I hope to further accommodate the students who are in need of the space.

In this space, students of every grade focus on the importance of story and explore it through multiple layers of immersion.

As the space continues to evolve it has begun to embrace duel learning: enrichment and now support.

With these new tables and power outlets, we can offer more space for students who choose this space to complete work, participate in study pods, receive small group support and those who receive after school tutoring. With new speakers we can give students a full immersion experience when being read to as a class or a grade, as well as have sound for clips of documentaries related to the books we are studying, examples of high quality work (finished project examples), and historical and technical context in the stories they explore in the year’s library curriculum, to allow them multiple year exploration on genre, subject, story and to become mini-experts by the time they graduate.

Through your support our library can grow into a space where student correlate what they’re learning, connect elements of story, and have a place for emotional support and self-reflection, all to ultimately reach their full potential.
