Learning How To Program Without Hurting Your Neck

My Students

We learn how to program using interactive lab assignments. I show my students awesome programming techniques, and they copy the notes onto their own computers. Students then employ those skills and their creativity in their own projects/assignments.

The students are inquisitive and are thirsty to learn as much programming as possible.

My classes prepare students to become future scientists and engineers, which is why learning how to program is so important. Almost all services and industries have an application for programming and big data, so our students need to be prepared for it in the future.

My Project

I am requesting one Epson EX7220 Wireless Projector and one Acer Chromebook. Currently, the mounted projector is located behind the students, which requires them to turn 180 degrees every time they need to copy something from the board. The room's layout does not allow for our computers to be turned around, so students have to constantly spin their heads back and forth. I want to allow my students to follow my instruction on their computers by having a 2nd projector in front of them. The Epson Wireless Projector will give my students a second projector to view during lessons. A hurdle for students learning how to program is setting up a development environment on their hardware. A web-based curriculum would allow students to learn everything through a web browser, regardless of their computer's hardware. With the growing popularity of Chromebooks, students will need to be able to use their Chromebooks in my class. As the instructor, I would use the requested Chromebook to create, find, and test Chromebook-compatible programming curricula, to ensure that every student will be able to learn in my class.

Students will be able to learn faster and more efficiently.

They are the scientists and engineers of tomorrow, and I want to get them up to speed as soon as possible. We will be able to cover more curriculum quicker because of these materials. Also, every student will benefit by accessing web-based resources that I have created specifically by and for the Chromebook.
