Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are amazing. They come in excited to learn about themselves and their peers. Through conversation and respect, my students share their dreams and fears. We have created a no judging zone so all students can be comfortable in the class. Many of my students deal with low self-esteem and peer pressure so when they are able to share how they are feeling with the group, the pressures of life goes away even if it is only for a moment.

My Project

A year ago, we started an after school empowerment group to help students learn how to love themselves, deal with peer pressure, and set goals for their future.

These healthy snacks will give the students energy as they engage in conversation with adults and their peers.

The girls talked about how they are hungry after school, therefore, these snacks will also help to fill their bellies as we fill their minds and hearts with knowledge and self- awareness. Many of the students can not afford to bring snacks to school and we do not want anyone to feel left out.
