My Students
The students at our school are special because they are realizing their potential in the EdTech world. West Hollywood students are engaging with technology to be creative communicators, knowledge constructors, innovative designers and global collaborators. We are preparing our students to be empowered learners who show empathy.
Making connections to technology means building background in the real world.
This year we are focused on the ISTE Standard: Global Collaborator. Learning about others outside our immediate community helps students see multiple perspectives. Through literature, students will be able to make connections to the real world and the digital world.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will make a difference in students' understanding of digital citizenship behaviors through storytelling. These texts will ignite curiosity and absolutely lend itself to deeper discussions on appropriate behaviors when online.
Students as young as Kindergarten develop their understanding of the real world through picture books.
This does not change when we begin learning about our identities online. Students will find joy in the variety of literature available to them during read aloud and independent reading time.
As I introduce digital citizenship concepts, the literature I am requesting will reinforce some of the overarching ideas and bring hypothetical situations to life in a safe and relatable way.
