Learning History using Hands-on Projects

Help me give my students a Cricut Explore Air 2 Machine to help them enhance their group projects and classroom environment. Also, as an incentive, I will let the students design their own t-shirts every semester.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in a public middle school in Miami, Florida. This year I teach 6th grade U.S. History and 8th grade World History. The majority of my students are 6th graders. One of my 8th grade classes is a resource class for students with disabilities. My students vary in learning styles and socioeconomic status since more than half come from low-income families. I enjoy teaching the newbies in the school and our outing 8th graders.

I teach a diverse group of students that are hard-working, creative, and enthusiastic learners.

They are determined to master every task and lesson. The materials in this project are important to keep my students engaged and motivated throughout the year to learn about U.S. History and World History.

I am eternally grateful for any support towards this project. In the 20 years I have taught, this is the first time I have ever asked for outside help. I look forward to teach my incoming 6th graders. It has been at least 4 years that I haven't taught World History, so I am excited to try out new lessons and projects using the materials this project would fund.

My Project

These materials will help my students learn about US History and World History in a fun and exciting way by creating booklets such as the Constitution Book, Maps of the United States, Map of World, and Letter to Queen Elizabeth, to name a few.

The Cricut Explore Air 2 Bundle will not only enhance student's projects, but it will also serve as an incentive to create individualized designed t-shirts.

Students will be highly motivated to stay on task, work cooperatively and creatively with this new class tool.

The goal is to keep students motivated and engaged in learning the social studies curriculum. It also gives students an opportunity to use their creativity in a subject content class.
