Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In our district, secondary schools do not qualify for Title I, but otherwise our school would qualify. I work with some special education students, a population that is transient and often lost in the shuffle. I have students from Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Africa, and other areas of the world. Many students in out schools come from low SES backgrounds and don't have the consistency in their everyday lives as we would like for our students. The end goal of my projects are to encourage, support and car for the whole child while in my classroom.

My Project

Snacks energize students to keep them learning. Between a late lunch period and pre-existing food insecurities, students will often be distracted by rumbly tummies making it difficult to focus on learning. The snacks requested in this project consist of a mix between healthy and popular. These will be made into snack packs for the students to remain fueled throughout the day. Once their basics needs have been met, our brilliant students are able to focus more on the lessons being taught, and engaging in class. Thank you for helping me address this need for our students.
