This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I love coming to work every day because I get to share my love of art, history, and mathematics with my students. In return, they are teaching me about their personal culture. Most of my students come from low-income homes where they experience many struggles daily. But do they show this? No, they show me that the world will not bring them down and that they are excited to learn something new every day when they walk into my room.
As an Art Department, we want to encourage our students to read more to support our schoolwide goal of reading in every classroom.
My co-teacher, Mr. Hetzel and I would like to get a class set of Art History/Art Style books to be able to do a weekly reading assignment. The book that I am asking for, I already have a personal copy of it from purchasing it from the library book fair for my boys. It is an amazing book because of having large vibrant images, large text, and an easy reading level.
The majority of our school is multi-language learners. This means the majority are taking an ELD (English Language Development) class or a reading class to help day by day reduce their gap and get them ready for high school.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
