Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a low income and mostly Hispanic area. These students do not have access to many things that other students have such as technology or parents who speak English. Many of these students do not have the help at home that they need. Many of them are struggling students.
Our school is located in a melting pot area.
We have students from all over here in Miami. Many students also come from single parent families. All of these challenges only makes it harder for students to want to succeed, but it is our job to make sure that they do!
My Project
Having tablets in the classroom will allow students to work on different skills once they have finished their classwork from the convenience of their desks. There are many free applications available that students can benefit from. Students can practice math skills and reading comprehension skills. Since our school has wifi, this will also help the students access these webpages.
Not only will having tablets be beneficial in the classroom but being able to print out worksheets for students on the spot would be great as well.
Having ink for our classroom printer will allow me to print extra work for students. This could be as a way to help struggling students as well as advance students. There are infinite worksheets that can be printed to aid instruction in the classroom.
