My Students
Can you read with speed? In today's classrooms students are in need of speed. Reading has become the main focus in schools across the country, and in my classroom it is often the struggle that my students deal with on a daily basis.
The first graders in my classroom are always eager to learn no matter what background they come from.
These students attend a Title I school where 96% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. These first graders come from single parent homes or homes where one or more parent is unemployed, or possibly they are homeless.
Many of my students speak languages other than English at home but their families provide for them the best they can. The first graders in my classroom, at times, struggle with learning because of the lack of supplies and educational cutbacks.
My Project
Have these fluency stations in my classroom will allow students to practice their fluency more independently without me hovering over them all the time. Having these fluency stations will allow my students read with a smoother transition with each word, and become quicker in their reading.
Please help my students become more independent workers preparing them for college at an early age.
Help them make their reading skills stronger and not a daily struggle in the classroom.
