Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a diverse group of third-grade students from a small, socio-economically disadvantaged community in southeast Texas. We do not allow our financial backgrounds or differences to hold us back from achieving our goals. Many of my students are not able to bring much-needed supplies from home in order to be successful in school. We enjoy reading, writing, doing math, as well as learning about science, history, and technology.

We rely on funding partners, such as donorschoose.org, to provide us with the materials we need to teach our children.

With our Title 1 funds being drastically cut this year, we are in great need of financial assistance through charitable partnerships.

My Project

With the funding of this project, I would encourage my students to use these games to enhance their knowledge of financial literacy. Monopoly Junior, The Allowance Game, and The Game of Life will focus on such financial skills as counting money, saving, and spending. They will, also, initiate great conversations in class for enhanced learning.

These games will help reinforce the importance of money and how to properly spend and save it.

By using these games, children will be able to grasp a better understanding of how important it is to save money. This also lends itself to discussion such concepts as the difference between wants and needs and charitable contributions.

The plastic bags will be used to store the games, so they will be readily available for the children to use during balanced math time.
