Learning Even More About the Arts With Technology

My Students

My school is Title I and located in a small North Carolina town. It has a diverse population in which the majority of the students are economically disadvantaged. Almost half of my students are also learning English as their second language. My students are full of enthusiasm about learning but often come to school without the necessary tools. As their teacher, I want to provide them with all of the resources they need in order to learn and be successful.

My Project

Living in the 21st century makes the usage of technology in the classroom setting very important. I would like to be able to combine the arts with technology in my classroom. The ability to do so will create new and exciting ways to keep my students motivated and engaged in the learning process. My students need a Chromebook in order to help them access programs for incorporating the arts into what they are learning. Some ways the Chromebook will be used: to learn how to use digital art to create 2-D and 3-D shapes, listen to musical instruments when learning about sound waves in science, make collages for a story they are reading, make a brochure for a social studies lesson and listen to music from other countries.

This Chromebook will help my students to learn and develop the necessary skills in order to make them successful learners for years to come.

Our school currently does not have enough technology for the students to get sufficient exposure in order for them be successful. The Chromebook will help with this deficit. Thank you for helping my students become better 21st century learners.
